The Question is:
Can an exercise program address learning difficulties? Yes! Through a new
framework and a new training method for developing Aquatic Literacy in children
with learning difficulties.
This training method in the water will target to improve
children’s physical, cognitive- perceptual and psychosocial
skills. In addition, this task aims to develop innovative
educational tools for aquatic professionals, including an
assessment test to measure children’s Aquatic Literacy
(strengths and weaknesses) and a specialized eco-friendly
equipment kit (to use in the training program).
This includes:
(a) the Aquatic Literacy Program (12 sessions)
(b) the Aquatic Literacy Test, this tool will measure the impact
of the program on the participants and will include 10 tasks
for assessing parameters such as, cognitive skills (e.g.,
colour/shape/letter/number identification, working memory,
selective attention), perceptual-motor skills (e.g., eye-hand
coordination, sound detection), physical competency in the
water (e.g., floating positions, bilateral swimming, diving
skills)
(c) the Educational Tools, the Eco Equipment Kit
